Road Trip

Ada, Addie, Ada Mar, AKA the Little A, took another road trip last weekend.

We went up to Philly for a visit, and seeing as we were up in that country, West Chester & South Philly, we took the opportunity to stop by some of the best nurseries in the East. A gardeners paradise. With so many years of memories all over the Brandywine, we can't wait to relive them in that amazing new way with Ada.

Ada at 9 weeks.

I picked these pictures because they remind me of how tiny Ada Mar is. She seems like a big independent 5 month old most of the time, already being a know-it-all, trying to hold her head up high, but when I see these I am reminded how tiny she is. She still has little newborn features. Just don't tell her that.

Ada has been plant-hunting with us a few times already, the first plants she picked out were a spectacular monarda, the reddest i've ever seen, and a great flowering oregano, Origanum 'Kent Beauty'. Both went to the community plot, and we'll cut into the yard later.

As for the trip, she loved being on the go- and two hours at a time in a car is now doable if timed right. She seems to like a few hours of stretch & tour time to get her tired enough to head back to the car-seat. Ada is very persnickety about being trapped under 5 point harness in the car seat for more than 2 hours, as she should be.

The plant-hunting, catching-up with great people, food,
friends and the valley weather was so refreshing.

(Oh, and for those who are curious ( you L ;) we found a few good ones: besides a nice stash of easy to find Sedum 'Black Jack' & 'Purple Emperor', and the darkest, most amazing Sempervivums you've ever seen (come by and get a cut), a tiny Melaleuca thymifolia, a few small Micantheus starts that I forget now (for Johnny Treebox), and a future source for Verticordia grafts).

I was impressed with the Castor's and Kopper Kings in hanging baskets at this one stop.

Found as always. -P

July 3rd: First grabbiness

Ada reached out and grabbed something for the first time today. And we had a camera close by. July 3rd. It's the little things that amaze us.

July 2: Ada at the gym

It seems like Ada just discovered her ability to stare at things and swat at them merrily today, she's fully playing now, just not totally sure what to do with herself while she does. She spent a long while under her first jungle gym happily trying to figure it out (she thanks her favorite Frank for the cool set up)

And perhaps my new favorite picture ever.
