It's no news to those of you close to us that the past weeks have been a sort of trial for the family. Everyone is doing well now, but C has been through a lot to say the very least.
Ada doing some get well shopping of her own for mom.
C went through an emergency surgery, and an unexpected week in the hospital, and a long painful recovery process (which looks like it will take a bit longer), which left us with a sick mom, a helpless dad, and a 2 month old needing constant attention.
Because little Ada is fortunate enough to have exceptional grandparents, she has not gone a single minute without perfect attention, love, and care. Baby Ada went from the arms of her mother, to the arms of her Grandmother J and Grandfather without once touching the ground. Our sanity and life would have been near impossible without our parents, who have stepped in, moved in, and completely taken on the most unpleasant tasks of keeping our little household going, along with the joy of Ada's care- all without batting an eye. It allowed C to heal, me to stay healthy, and Ada to be as happy as a lark throughout this.
And we would have been miserable if it weren't for all the kindness from our friends. To all our friends, and family, we can't thank you enough: the visits, the hospital company, the flowers and more flowers, the long distance deliveries, the offers of babysitting, the food, the desserts, picking up the slack for us outside the house, the working front gate!, the companionship in person and from afar, the constant well wishes, the concern & advice, the books, the general help... it's been amazing. Speechless.
We love you for it (you know who you are). And we are so much better for the great friends who have been there for Carole for the past two months.
[I hope I thank you all personally of course... but I just really wanted to post this picture of Ada and her balloon]
Cheers to C's rapid recovery.
(she'll be her old self again any day now)
Cheers to the best people we could ever ask for.
